K-8 Assisted Home School Enrollment Process

In BIS K-8 (Assisted Homeschool Program) , parents (“home teachers”) must be able to provide daily support and supervision at home for approximately 20-25 hours per week of schoolwork. All families must follow the following steps to apply.

1. Enroll in BUSD

   If you are already enrolled, move to step 2. Otherwise, visit the Berkeley Public Schools Enrollment page to enroll in BUSD before applying to BIS.

2. Attend Required Orientation

   All families must attend an orientation before submitting an application. Student and at least one parent must attend the google meet orientation together. Please fill out this form to register for the orientation: K-8 Orientation Sign-Up form. K-8 Orientation dates: April 23, May 7 and May 28 12:00-12:30.

   STUDENTS WITH IEPs

   If your student has an IEP, you must arrange an IEP meeting before submitting a BIS application. Please contact your current case manager to start the process. If you are not yet enrolled in BUSD, please contact the Special Education supervisors to arrange a meeting. 3. Submit Application

   After attending orientation, you’ll be invited to submit the BIS K-8 Application. Applications from families who have not participated in an orientation will not be considered for enrollment.
